      Musical Journeys: Celia Cruz to Aymee Nuviola; Cuban Music in the Americas is a bilingual educational book for students to learn about the legendary icon, Celia Cruz and the generational transformation of her musical genius on a contemporary artist, Aymee Nuviola. The book includes reading passages, graphic organizers ( k-w-l chart and word splash) coloring and activity pages for students. There are additional blank sheets for students to write their new knowledge after visiting the artist websites. The following literacy skills are the focus of the book: ask and answer questions, draw conclusions, vocabulary, evidence based questions, compare and contrast, and content area research.  Social studies skills: geography, past to present, great Americans, and cultural heritage.

     This resource book is designed for grades 3rd to 5th, but could be adapted for younger students. The book can be utilized during Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month and Women’s History Month.  

     Aymee Nuviola is a contemporary Latin artist that has portrayed Celia Cruz in the telenovela “Celia”, a 2018 Latin Grammy winner, and in 2020 she tied with Marc Anthony for the Best Tropical Album at the American Grammy award show. She is known to incorporate a few Celia Cruz songs in her energized concert performances.
