NATALIE OGUARA, FOUNDER & CEO

I have been in education for twenty eight years, and one of my greatest joys is to see the “Ah Ha” moments on a child’s face. I am passionate about teaching and ensuring that each student is achieving to their highest potential. “Education with Culture” has been my quest as an educator of diverse students. I strive on a daily basis to teach towards every students need for inclusion and voice in their educational environment.

Currently, I am a third grade teacher in the Spanish Immersion program at Laurel Ridge ES in Fairfax, VA. I teach two classes of language arts and social studies in english, daily. I began my career in teaching at independent African schools, and spent over twenty years teaching in DC Charter and Public Schools.

In 2007, I received the Support Person of the Year Award-DC Ward 7 education Council; 2008- Outstanding Literacy Coach-Reading First State Office; 2011-Participated in the People to People Delegation for Language and Literary to Russia; 2016- Joined the Mwalinu Teachers Group @Howard University; 2008-present, Mentor and Demonstration teacher. My love for literacy led me to serve as a Literacy Instructional Coach for 8 years before returning to the classroom in 2015.

In May 2019, I started my own educational company called “Sankofa Educators, LLC.” My mission is to create bilingual teaching materials to cultivate global competency among students in grades K-5. My first bilingual teacher resource book, “Musical Journeys: Celia Cruz to Aymee Nuviola, Cuban Music in the Americas”, is currently available on teacherspayteachers. com/https//bit.ly/305czhC. Efiemi Newman, Health and wellness educator

Since a young age, Efiemi Newman has pursued her love of dance. A native Washingtonian, she has performed and trained with several dance companies throughout the National Capitol Region, including: Kankouran West African Dance Company, DC Youth Ensemble, Dance Institute of Washington, Dance Place, Joy of Motion Dance Center, Sahara Dance Studio, and Maryland Youth Ballet. Her dance repertoire includes extensive training in African dance, Salsa, Belly Dance, Samba, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Tap.

In 2014, she became a licensed Zumba instructor, and has been teaching Zumba classes ever since. In 2019, she also became a licensed MixxedFit instructor. She currently teaches Zumba and MixxedFIT classes at Rock Creek Sports Club (Silver Spring, MD) and Thomas Farm Community Center (Rockville, MD). TARINEGIGHA OGUARA, social media manager

My name is Tarinegigha Oguara. I am 22 years young with a strong passion for excelling in everyday life tasks. I am a Duval High School graduate and an Allegany College of Maryland/Montgomery College attendee. I majored in Kinesiology and minored in Communications. Since a young age, I have been obsessed with traveling around the world and showcasing how different communities and backgrounds correlate with one another.

In 2020, I was announced as the Media Manager for Sankofa Educators, LLC. My goal is to firmly manage our social accounts along with utilizing positive social outreaches to improve relations within communities for all generations. I strive to share my dream with individuals to better our concepts of the world we live in and its vast opportunities and limitless capabilities.

INAtimi OGUARA, Assistant Researcher/Educator

I have a passion for education and uniting students with resources. I am a college and
career counselor with DC College Access Program serving students in DC Public
Schools. Throughout my professional career I have worked with various college access
nonprofits around the city and served over 1,000 students! I specialize in helping
students research, apply, and ultimately access financial aid and scholarships to afford
college. 

In early 2020 I began studying computer securities and networking. I plan to bring
distance learning and STEM- focused literature to students via Sankofa Educators. I
hold a BA in History and Secondary Education from the University of Pittsburgh. I serve
as a research assistant and assistant educator for Sankofa Educators LLC.
